The Arkansas Fire Training Academy, a division of SAU Tech, is accepting applications for Instructor-Central Region. This is a 12-month position that covers from Little Rock, AR to West Memphis, AR and Pine Bluff, AR to Ward, AR. The instructor would work out of their home office. The instructor position has an annual salary of $50,134.00 with a benefit package including paid health/life insurance and retirement plan.

Description: This is a 12-month position that covers from Little Rock, AR to West Memphis, AR and Pine Bluff, AR to Ward, AR. The instructor would work out of their home office. The instructor will work under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Statewide Training for the Arkansas Fire Training Academy. Examples of Duties Specifically, the job assignment includes but is not limited to: ý Conduct and supervise training sessions / teach courses according to curriculum outlines. ý Evaluate student performance. ý Perform continuous course evaluation. ý Update curriculum as required. ý Perform firefighting duties as necessary in training students. ý Attend additional classes to update training requirements as needed. ý Meet with fire chiefs, training officers and departments within their assigned area on a regular schedule. ý Prepare for classes, maintain equipment and Prop building, etc. ý Attend fire service meeting and in-service training as well as EMS events. ý Performs other duties as required or assigned

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ý Firefighter II (IFSAC or Pro Board Certification). ý Fire Instructor I (IFSAC or Pro Board Certification). ý Associate's Degree in Fire Science or related field or complete within 3 years of hire date. ý Background check required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ý Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science or related field. ý EMT Certification ý Prior experience in Fire Service Training Supplemental Information

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY ý Ability to conduct training sessions / teach courses according to curriculum outlines. ý Evaluate student performance. ý Perform continuous course evaluation. ý Update curriculum, as required. ý Must be in excellent physical condition, fully capable of performing firefighting duties.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: ý Each instructor will be assigned one or more additional duties related to the AFTA. ý Additional duties will include, but are not limited to: class preparation, curriculum update, equipment maintenance, etc. ý Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
