Academic/Career Advisor
The Advisor is responsible for advising students regarding information, procedures and academic requirements of a specific program or major. The fundamental focus of the position is to provide retention and academic advising services for the students. This is twelve month position with full benefits.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Preferred qualifications: Master’s Degree in counseling or student affairs and/or Higher Education work experience in a related field.
Salary: $35,000

Description
The Academic/Career Advisor works with the Academics Division under the direction and supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Instruction. The Academic/Career Advisor has responsibilities of advising students regarding information, procedures and academic requirements of a specific program or major. The Academic/Career Advisor should have broad interests and skills in learning assistance, career search, evaluation, and student development. The fundamental focus of the Academic/Career Advisor is to provide retention and academic advising services for the students.

Examples of Duties
Promote service between advising and the faculty
Assist with orienting new students to the campus.
Work with faculty and staff in the student retention process.
Perform academic advising.
Work with the appropriate personnel to coordinate recruitment, advising, and retention activities.
Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Background check

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in counseling or student affairs and/or Higher Education work experience in related fields.


Supplemental Information
MS Office skills and experience with POISE preferred.
