Investigator – Medicaid Department
The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit investigates complex financial crimes involving Medicaid providers. Successful Medicaid fraud investigators must be organized, able to work with federal and state regulations, be able to read and understand large volumes of medical and financial records and to communicate confidently with professionals from various healthcare fields. Successful Medicaid fraud investigators often have training or experience in more than one related field. We currently have investigators who are certified law enforcement officers, licensed attorneys, licensed counselors, registered nurses, and accountants. We have a certified fraud examiner, a Certified Public Accountant and a computer expert. If you are a certified law enforcement officer you can keep your certification but you do not need to be a certified law enforcement officer to apply for this position. You do need a bachelor’s degree or other job related education and/or experience. Knowledge of word processing and electronic spreadsheet applications. Skill in effective oral and written communication, including writing reports. Skill in applying investigative techniques and procedures to assigned cases. Skill in using a computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval. Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines. Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment. Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs. Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 20%. You must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license, pass a drug screen and a background check. You must also have five (5) years work experience in a related field including but not limited to law enforcement, investigations, financial auditing, healthcare auditing, or data analytics.
Legal Assistant – Civil Department
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking to hire an experienced legal assistant/paralegal for the Civil Litigation Department. Ideal candidates should have a minimum of an Associate Degree with training in paralegal studies or equivalent training in a computer or business-related field of study. All applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal to be considered for the position. All candidates should have experience drafting correspondence, scheduling client meetings, and maintaining electronic calendars for attorneys. All candidates must be able to proficiently use all basic computer programs including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Candidates should also have experience using the state and federal court’s filing systems. All candidates must have verifiable experience successfully working with multiple attorneys in a fast paced and document intensive environment. All candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the process of a lawsuit. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing complaints and preparing responses to interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and requests for admissions. Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience preparing briefs for the Arkansas Appellate Courts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Preference will also be given to candidates with three or more years of experience assisting a trial attorney with litigation tasks such as: organizing and preparing trial notebooks for hearings and jury trials; preparing exhibit and witness lists; document compilation in complex cases or class actions; and assisting with witness, exhibit and evidentiary presentations during trials. A working knowledge or experience with trial presentation software is desired.
