National Park College is seeking a Veteran Services Coordinator. 

DESCRIPTION: National Park College seeks a full-time Veteran Services Coordinator/Academic Advisor. This person will be a dynamic, student-centered professional who loves to guide students through higher education and toward careers.

Primary Veteran Services Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Veteran Services Coordinator/Academic Advisor are summarized in the list below; however, the individual in this position recognizes that the role may go beyond these duties in an effort to best serve the College. Serve as point person/liaison for the Veterans' Administration and all internal and external military communities for National Park College Serve as the School Certifying Official (SCO) for military veterans, and dependent students. Certify VA benefits according to federal guidelines and regulations; perform needed calculations to determine eligibility requirements satisfy all federal, state, and institutional policies. Determine award amounts and submits any necessary amendments or adjustments. Prepare and submit all required documentation and reporting to federal, state, and local agencies in a timely manner. Provide degree planning and course registration to students. Audit students’ degree plans to ensure proper course alignment with program plan and VA educational benefits. Assist with reconciling VA payment and student account related issues. Serve as primary point of contact for ArmyIgnitED program Manage the operations/services of the VA lounge Supervise the Veterans Affairs work-study program by placing eligible students, maintaining schedules, records, and timesheets, and submitting appropriate paperwork. Work collegially with all internal and external stakeholders. Serve as Registered Student Organization advisor to the NPC VetHawks. Conduct college and community outreach to promote veteran/military connected student engagement and retention. Participate on committees as assigned and perform other related duties necessary to support the mission of NPC.

Other Academic Advising Duties and Responsibilities: Provide degree and career planning services to students. Provide course enrollment services to students. Promote retention and student success initiatives. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred skills/abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Willingness and availability to work occasional evenings/weekends. High level of attention to detail.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree preferred 3 years of community college experience in advising, student support, or related area Veteran or Veteran Dependent status preferred
