An Electrician for Cooper Tire must be proficient in the installation and maintenance of all types of electrical equipment and must know the principle of action of electrical currents under the variety of conditions which it will be found in the electrical equipment used in a company manufacturing rubber goods. The ideal candidate will be able to control the action of electrical current by the use of switches, condensers, transformers, rheostats and other electrical equipment and will have the ability to use the proper instruments and gauges necessary to track down trouble in electrical equipment.
Job Specific Duties include, but are not limited to:
Ability to interpret printed instructions and drawings of the assembly and installation of electrical equipment
Checking on their own and assistants work at the proper stages of completion and at the completion of the job
Preventative maintenance procedures when assigned the care of electrical equipment
Repairs that are consistent with the standards set up by the Chief Electrician or any other authority assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Must have high school diploma, GED OR the Workforce Center’s Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) with a minimum of Silver Certificate level (we will accept the CRC Silver Certificate or higher in lieu of a high school diploma or G.E.D.)
Successful completion of an accredited apprenticeship program in this specific craft OR 60 months (five years) total work experience working full time in this specific craft with at least one year working full time in an industrial manufacturing environment
Must score adequately on the Electrician Proficiency Test
Schedule:
Schedule is a 2-2-3 schedule, as the plant works a 24/7 continuous operation schedule. Standard schedule works every other weekend.
New hires likely to be placed on night shift based on seniority. Some areas may train on day shift and then the new hire is moved to a shift based upon seniority.
Work Environment:
The job is within a heavy industrial environment and you may be required to work within various areas of the factory. Dependent upon the area you will work in, the environmental conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy. The position requires you to work a continuous operation, which will include Saturdays and Sundays. Must be able to work any shift assignment, including night shift. The position also requires you to work overtime as needed. Additionally, safety is our highest priority and safety procedures/guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes safety wear such as hearing protection, eye protection, protective clothing and steel-toed shoes. Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to the success of the operations in general as well as contributing to an overall positive team atmosphere.
