Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities performs preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves,
chemical feeders, etc.; repairs or replaces malfunctioning equipment; tests equipment; maintains
maintenance equipment records and inventory of tools; completes confined space entry permits; subject to
emergency call and being “on call”; and performs other essential duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic hydraulics and electricity.
Knowledge of the operation of motors, pumps, and electrically driven equipment.
Knowledge of mechanical maintenance procedures, equipment, tools, and measuring devices.
Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance to check fluids, belts, etc. to ensure safe vehicle operation.
Knowledge of safety practices.
Knowledge of basic hand tools.
Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
Ability to work in above (130 ft.) and below ground structures.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to coordinate work with others.
Ability to learn hydraulics.
Ability to lift 75 pounds.
Ability to use basic mathematics.
Ability to wear air purifying respirator.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to use basic manual and power hand tools and various testing equipment.
Ability to read blueprints and schematic charts.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to write neatly and legibly.
Ability to work with hazardous chemicals.
One (1) year of work experience in repairing and maintaining pumps, motors, pneumatic, hydraulic, valves, and electrical
equipment and performing mechanical maintenance.
Must be 21 years old or older.
Must have a valid Arkansas Drivers or CDL License. (One Technician in the area must have HAZMAT endorsement
and Tanker endorsement).
Must have good driving record.
Must pass Pulmonary Function test subject to wear air purifying respirator.
Must pass a fitness test.
Available for call out response nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must maintain a personal telephone due to subject to call out.
Must live within a 22-mile radius of Jack Wilson Treatment Plant.
Must be high-performing, innovative, values-driven, informed, and passionate individual.
Must take the Arkansas Water DISTRIBUTION Grade 3 License within 6 months of completion of training required by the State Health Department (should normally be accomplished within 18 months of hire). Must pass Water Distribution License exam within 2 years of hire.

by the State Health Department (should normally be accomplished within 18 months of hire). Must pass Water
Treatment License exam within 2 years of hire.
Work in heated and air-conditioned office and works outdoors in all types of weather. Exposed to dirt, dust, water on a continuous basis. May occasionally be exposed to insects, snakes, poison ivy, etc. when working outdoors. Must perform heavy lifting. May be required to climb water tanks or towers of up to 130 feet high and work in below ground structures.
This is a safety sensitive position due to utility driving requirements and Arkansas Water Distribution
License required by the State Health Department. Position requires discharging duties fraught with risks of
injury to others so that even a momentary lapse of attention can have disastrous consequences.
