Job Summary/Scope: The Training and Education Specialist is responsible for managing the design and development of course materials, with an emphasis on interactive and multimedia technology driven components, and ensures learners are prepared with practical and productive knowledge and skills. The Training and Education Specialist is responsible for ensuring that learning tools and programs meet defined objectives that maximize organizational performance outcomes and business impact. Strong skill with software applications and meticulous documentation are essential components of the job, as are independent planning, program development, and collaboration with stakeholders. This position works in a fast paced, dynamic environment that demands high quality. This position works closely with leadership and subject matter experts (SME’s) to design, develop, implement, plan, and evaluate comprehensive training programs with evidence-based strategies from fields of instruction design, educational technology, human performance improvement, and cognitive science that leads to learner success. Tasks include the design and presentation of corporate training programs and staff courses that are responsive to the needs of the organization. This position must be able to train on the basic competencies of assigned specialty area(s).

Essential Functions:

1. Independently develops comprehensive training plans to ensure adequate and complete training.

2. Serves as Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator. Competent in managing all aspects of the LMS application to organize and ensure smooth flow of training system and maintain meticulous documentation of training activities to meet government and industry regulatory audit requirements.

3. Uses instructional systems designed to guide development and delivery of effective adult learning experiences a. Performs needs assessments to develop appropriate training solutions.. b. Analyzes instructional needs, defines course requirements, manages the project through the development process and ensures instructional integrity. c. Advises and assists Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Managers to assess learning needs, develop storyboards and related instructional elements for incorporation into courses.

4. Demonstrates strong intermediate-level skill with Microsoft Office applications.

5. Facilitates the delivery of training programs in person and/or in conjunction with SME’s and/or outside vendors.

6. Acts as the organization’s liaison with outside vendors for training programs, including responsibility for negotiating with such vendors for training solutions and cost with approval of Manage of Human Resources and CEO.

7. Develops and implements formal measurements of training effectiveness, consistently reports results, and works collaboratively with leadership members and designated SME’s to improve programs and outcomes.

8. Develops and implements systems to monitor and update learning content accuracy.

9. Ensures documentation and core competencies are compliant with operational policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.

10. Evaluates and recommends training-related software applications to increase productivity and learning transfer.

11. Maintains familiarity with current training concepts, trends, and technology.

12. Manages and/or assists with special projects focused on improving departmental processes and outcomes.

13. Develops and maintains effective relationships with stakeholders.

14. Demonstrates strong time management skills.

15. Manages work schedule to support precepting activities and/or learning transfer in specialty area(s).

16. Participates in professional organizational groups and collaboratives as directed and/or approved by Manager.

17. Performs other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Secondary Functions:

1. Contact attendees and department representatives about training programs.

2. Schedule appropriate classroom and prepare all needed equipment and supplies.

3. Create and maintain annual training calendar.

Organizational Expectations:

1. Maintains regular and punctual attendance at assigned work location. a. Accurately document timekeeping records.

2. Completes and maintains appropriate documentation in a timely and thorough manner including activities. Examples include: training documentation, mileage, expenses, electronic schedule of ARORA events, and other forms. a. Proofs work for accuracy and completeness.

3. Exhibits and models ARORA’s conduct standards, mission, and organizational clarity (core purpose, core values, business definition, and strategic anchors) in all job functions and interactions both internal and external to ARORA. a. Utilize the ARORA strategic anchors: Creating a Culture of Donation, Financially Sound and Quality during work activities and in the decision-making process.

4. Attendance at staff meetings, training programs, and/or in-services meetings, as required.

5. Demonstrates professional appearance, behavior and standards in all business dealings and interactions.

6. Demonstrates professional conduct and behavior reflective of ARORA’s respect, honor, admiration and reverence for the donor and donor family.

7. Fosters effective relationships with client representatives.

8. With the approval of division Director, serves on national committees.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Potential Risk Factors:

1. Risk Exposure to Blood/Body Fluids: While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be exposed to blood or body fluids. Established procedures identify the appropriate personal protective measures that you should use when performing essential functions of your position. 2. Repetitive Motion: While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be required to perform some functions repeatedly. When such tasks are not performed properly, injury can result.

3. Minimum Weightlifting Requirement: While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be required to do some lifting, moving, pushing, or pulling. When such tasks are not performed properly, injury can result. Must have the ability to lift minimum weight of 20 lbs.

4. Prolonged Sitting, Standing, and Bending: While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be required to sit, stand, or bend for an extended period of time. When such tasks are not performed properly, injury can result. Precautions and/or equipment should be used when performing this task.

5. Competency Evaluation: Competency evaluations are required for this position. Your supervisor will notify you when your evaluation is to be conducted.

6. Training: You may need additional training to better understand the performance requirements of your essential job functions. Training classes are available and can be requested and/or assigned. Your attendance at such classes is mandatory.

Work Environment:

1. Works in normal office environment.

2. Required to carry a cellular telephone for business purposes.

3. Infrequent travel required by personal vehicle to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Work Hours Forty-hour workweek with occasional weekends, holidays, or evenings.

Minimum Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, organizational/training development or closely related field from an accredited college or university required.

2. 2-3 years of experience as a Trainer and/or Instructional Designer, course development and delivery and/or assessment and augmentation of workforce development.

3. Experience researching, creating, and delivering education programs, demonstrating excellent one-on-one and group presentation and facilitation skills.

4. Creating simulation activities preferred.

5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

6. Ability to exercise independent decision-making and work autonomously.

7. Strong leadership qualities including the ability to collaborate and work effectively with all levels of staff.

8. Consistent demonstration of attention to detail, precision, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

9. Possess strong prioritization skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks.

10. Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills (i.e. has the ability to make decisions based on situational circumstance, company policy and customer relations).

11. Ability to utilize general office equipment, software, and must be Intermediate to Advance skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Registered Nurse, preferred.
