ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT RETL/CLAS
JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, prospects for sales to new and existing advertisers; makes sales presentations to new and existing advertisers; sells display advertising space for publications; attends sales and training sessions; obtains and exhibits practical knowledge of other advertising media; performs other duties as assigned, good attendance is required.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Customer Service- Answer phones, wait on customers who walk in. Take subscriber complaints. Trouble-shoot digital customer account issues.
Clerical- Enter classified ads, legal publications and editorial content as needed. Assist in daily deposits and month-end billing. Prepare affidavits and tear sheets for month-end billing.
Prospects for sales to new and existing advertisers – prepares a list of prospects from leads in other publications and/or media and from old accounts. Obtains pertinent information concerning prospects past and current advertising for use in sales presentations
Makes sales presentations to new and existing advertisers – develops sales ideas and visits advertisers to point out advantages of our publications; exhibits prepared layouts with art, copy, schedule(s), etc., for possible use by prospect; meets as many of the advertiser’s needs as possible; solicits additional advertising from other publications and media
Sells display advertising spaces for publications – strives to increase existing advertiser revenue and obtain new advertisers in assigned area of responsibility. Strives to achieve and exceed assigned revenue goal, new business goal, and special section goal. Handles the design and production of advertising sold
Sells classified and display advertising for publication; contacts prospects, established customers, advertisers from local publications, and inactive accounts to sell additional linage, multiple insertions, directories, and other special promotions (projects).
Keys data into computer using data entry device; enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from telephone calls into computer using a standard keyboard; follows format on screen; compares data entered with source material for accuracy; deletes incorrectly entered data and re-enters correct data.
Follows through with placement of all advertising sold; responsible for the mechanics of handling and following through with the placement of all advertising sold; conforms to deadlines and policies of the company.
Attends sales and training sessions, as assigned
Obtains and exhibits practical knowledge of other advertising media
Good attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent; college degree desired
EXPERIENCE: Sales experience required; three years desired
DRESS: Must maintain high standards of personal dress and demeanor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting up to 40 pounds from a level of 0 to 35 inches.
Sitting up to 3 hours per day
Walking up to 3 hours per day on a variety of surfaces.
Standing up to 3 hours per day on a variety of surfaces.
Carrying up to 20 pounds.
Twisting movements are required.
Kneeling movements are required.
Bending movements are required.
Finger dexterity is required.
Wrist movement is required.
TRANSPORTATION
Must possess or be able to obtain a VALID drivers license
Driving record must meet the requirements set in the “Personal Vehicles Used for Company Business” policy. Must have and provide own reliable transportation
Must provide proof of insurance with Arkansas Democrat-Gazette listed as an Additional Interested Party.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Position is routinely exposed to loud noises.
Position is routinely exposed to a variety of weather conditions (if outside sales).
Position is routinely exposed to bright glare through video display terminal.
